INNOFUSTERIA BALEARS, ADVANCED SERVICES SUPPORTING CARPENTRY PRODUCTION ON THE BALEARIC ISLANDS
2008-2010 Project forming part of the INNOEMPRESA initiative, cofinanced by the Balearic Islands Government the Ministry of Industry, the Spanish State Administration and the ERDF. The main aim of the project is to identify a need for legislation and to support businesses in the Balearic Islands timber sector in implementing manufacturing control and product quality systems. 22 businesses taking part.
TECHNOLOGY PROMOTION PROGRAMME
2008-2009 Project led by the Balearic Islands University-Business Foundation and financed by the Balearic Islands Government´s Directorate General of R+D+i, whose main aim is to promote the training of the R+D+i management professionals and to foster their incorporation into businesses on the Islands, helping them to improve their competitive position in the market through the implementation of specific technology projects, contributing towards organising the range of technology available, strategic innovation management and relations with research centres. CETEBAL oversees 2 promoters at businesses in the Balearic Islands sector and has one promoter in the organisation.
PROMOTION OF THE USE OF FREE SOFTWARE AT BALEARIC ISLANDS SMES
2007-2008 Project led by the ITEB Costume Jewellery Technology Institute. PIMEEF (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Ibiza and Formentera) and CETEBAL are also taking part, as part of the grand application process for the Technology Antenna Network of the Directorate General of R+D+i, with the aim of promoting the use of free software among SMEs from various production sectors on the Balearic Islands. Free software refers to computer applications that users are allowed to use without limitations, implicitly providing them with the freedom to improve the programme and to share changes introduced. LASER APPLICATIONS FOR INDUSTRY PROJECT
2007-2008 Project led by the ITEB (Technological Institute of Costume Jewellery, with the participation of IMEDEA, INESCOP and CETEBAL, as part of the grant application process of the Technology Antenna Network of the Directorate General of R+D+i. The project consisted of the establishment of a research group to promote various lines of experimentation with a view to determining the possibilities deriving from the application of laser and optical technologies to achieve innovation in the production processes of these sectors, including footwear, timber, costume jewellery, tourism and boating.
INNOVATION ACTIVITIES IN WOODEN OUTSIDE DOORS AND WINDOWS MADE ON THE BALEARIC ISLANDS
2005-2008 Scheme forming part of the Balearic Islands Network of Technology Antennas with cofinance from the Directorate General of Technological Development and Research of the Balearic Islands Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Innovation to purchase equipment, get the scheme under way and provide training, as well as from the participating businesses.
The aims of the project are:
- To analyse the influence of raw material and the manufacturing process on the functionality of wooden outside doors and windows
- To optimise the on-site installation of wooden exterior doors and windows together with their durability and suitability according to the normal climatic characteristics of the Balearic Islands.
- Planning individual and group actions making it possible to check compliance with existing UNE and EN standards for wooden doors and windows manufactured on the Balearic Islands, prior to compulsory CE marking.

CE MARKING STUDY - CONSTRUCTION IN RELATION TO THE BALEARIC ISLANDS TIMBER SECTOR
2005-2007 Objective of having and publicising basic information about CE Marking in construction and, particularly, CE marking for the different products related to the Balearic Islands timber sector.
INSEX- SOCIO-EMPLOYMENT INCLUSION OF GROUPS AT RISK OF SOCIAL EXCLUSIVE
2004-2007 Project forming part of the EQUAL initiative with finance from the European Social Fund and the Balearic Islands Ministry of Employment and Training. The general aims of the project are:
- To achieve the socio-employment integration of the groups of direct beneficiaries at the greatest risk of exclusion, fostering their personal development potential and, alongside this, promoting the indirect benefits for the labour market as a whole of the inclusion actions established as part of the project.
- To involve the indirect beneficiaries in defining and implementing routes to inclusion, creating a permanent means of communication with businesses, making it possible to: determine employment needs, adapt training actions to business requirements, develop work placements and eliminate social prejudices.
- To mitigate the effects of the black economy, particularly among immigrants, through support for the regularisation of employment and the promotion of business creation.
The project is being carried out by ADISLAB -DEVELOPMENT GROUP FOR SOCIO-EMPLOYMENT INTEGRATION ON THE BALEARIC ISLANDS.
Balearic Islands Timber Sector Technology Audit
2002. Financed by the Balearic Islands Ministry of Employment and the European Social Fund. The general aim of the project is to determine the strengths and weaknesses of small and medium-sized enterprises in the timber and furniture sector in the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands in terms of technology and innovation capacity in order to draw up a technology management and business innovation proposal. The project is being carried out as an Objective 3 initiative of the Balearic Islands Government´s Ministry of Employment and Training.

ANALYSIS OF TIMBER USE AND TREATMENT/FINISHES FOR EXTERIOR CARPENTRY ON THE BALEARIC ISLANDS
2004-2005 With the support of the Directorate General of Industrial Promotion in order to analyse the exterior timber used by a sample of timber firms on the Balearic Islands, analyse the treatment/finish given to it by these firms for outdoor use and to study the suitability of these.
STUDY OF THE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE BOATING SECTOR FOR BUSINESSES IN THE BALEARIC ISLANDS TIMBER SECTOR
2004-2005. The scheme is part of INNOBAL XXI, supported by the Balearic Islands Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Innovation and Parc Bit. The basic aim of the project is to analyse the opportunities in the boating sector for the Balearic Islands timber sector.
ANALYSIS OF THE NEED FOR A LABORATORY FOR CARPENTRY ITEMS
2002-2003 Backed by the Directorate General for Industrial Promotion. The aim of this project is to analyse the need for a laboratory to test the quality of carpentry items manufactured on the Balearic Islands.
PROMOTION OF KNOWLEDGE OF INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES
2003 Creation of an R+D+i manual in order to publicise different aspects of research, development and innovation among company managers.
PROFIT – Technology diagnosis and publication of results of technical research in the furniture, timber and allied sectors
2000-2004. PROFIT initiative. Financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
CETEBAL is taking part jointly with other technology sectors from the sector in the project run by AIDIMA as part of the PROFIT initiative from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology under the title "Diagnosis of technological needs and publication of the results of research among businesses in the furniture, timber and allied sectors (Valencian region, Murcia, Balearic Islands and Aragon)".
