PRO-ENVIRONMENT TIMBER PROJECT
2009 During September and October 2009, the Balearic Islands Timber Technology Centre has carried out the PRO-ENVIRONMENT TIMBER campaign, with the support of the Environment Ministry.
TIMBER AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE PROJECT
2008 During September and October 2008, the Balearic Islands Timber Technology Centre has carried out the WHEREVER YOU LOOK, USE TIMBER AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE campaign, with the support of the Environment Ministry.
HAZARDOUS WASTE STUDY FOR THE BALEARIC ISLANDS TIMBER SECTOR.
2006-2007, with the support of the Environment Ministry and carried out by the CAIB Timber and Cork Federation, the Balearic Islands Timber Association, the Balearic Islands Timber Manufacturing Industry Association, RECICLAFUSTA S. COOP and CETEBAL. The purpose of the project has been to create a characterisation and quantitative study of hazardous waste generated by businesses from the Balearic Islands timber and furniture sector, as well as providing information and raising awareness among business people of proper hazardous waste management.
PROMOTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AT BUSINESSES IN THE BALEARIC ISLANDS TIMBER SECTOR.
2004-2005 Part of the SME Consolidation and Competitiveness Plan cofinanced by the Directorate General for Industrial Promotion, the Finance Ministry and European Funds. 10 businesses taking part. The aim of the project is to deal with two fundamental aspects of environmental sustainability at businesses in the timber sector: custody chain certification and the minimisation of the waste produced
ECOFUSTA BALEARS Project
2004-2005 ECOFUSTA BALEARS cofinanced by the BIODIVERSITY FOUNDATION and European Funds. Carrying out a series of actions to raise awareness among businesses in the Balearic Islands timber sector concerning environmental aspects. Carried out together with the Balearic Islands Development Association, the CAIB Timber and Cork Federation and the associations making it up.
PROJECT TO IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
2002-2003. Part of the SME Consolidation and Competitiveness Plan cofinanced by the Directorate General for Industrial Promotion, the Finance Ministry and European Funds. 5 companies taking part with the aim of implementing advanced management and organisational systems concerning environmental aspects at SMEs in the furniture, timber and allied sectors in the Balearic Islands.
Information Campaign on Forestry Certification and Custody Chain Certification
With the support of the Environment Ministry and the CAIB Timber and Cork Federation. The aim is to promote the knowledge and application of forestry certification on the Balearic Islands and to promote the use of more environmentally friendly products.
Collaboration in creating a Timber Waste Management Company
2002. Together with the CAIB Timber and Cork Federation. CETEBAL has advised and supported the creation of a company to manage the waste produced by the timber sector, drawn from the timber industry, called RECICLAFUSTA S. COOP.
Collaboration in a Viability Study for a Recycling Plant
2001-2002. CETEBAL has collaborated with technical advice and on the implementation of the Viability Study for a Timber Waste Recycling Plant carried out by the Waste Reduction Office, a body responsible to Balearic Islands Government´s Environment Ministry. The project was carried out in collaboration with Manacor Municipal Council and the Balearic Islands Timber Association. The aim of the study is to look at the viability of different solutions that might be put forward for the recoverable waste generated by timber production.
Publishing the Handbook on Good Environmental Practices for the Balearic Islands timber sector.
2001. Financed by the Directorate General of Industrial Promotion of the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry and the Environment Ministry. The aim of the Handbook is to promote good environmental practices and proper environmental management among businesses in the sector. Companies need to know the legislation applicable in each case, depending on their production and the type and quantity of waste they generate, as well as the different forms of action they can take.
Qualitative Study of Solid Waste in the Timber and Furniture Industry.
2000. Financed by the Directorate General of Industrial Development, of the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry. The aim of the study was to make a general analysis of the timber sector and the environment (general waste, applicable legislation, environmental frameworks...) and a qualitative study of the state of the businesses in the sector in the Balearic Islands community.
